The end of the year is fast approaching, and while we’re excited for what 2024 has in store, we’re still ready to send 2023 off with a proper celebration. It’s time for our annual End of Year Sale at Smashwords!
The 2023 End of Year Sale is running from December 15th through January 1st. Our annual sales continue to be the most successful sales opportunities for our authors at Smashwords, so now is the best time to sign up and prepare to promote your books to readers.
You can sign your books up for this upcoming sale from your “My Books” page on your Draft2Digital account. Once you’re signed up, this is a page where we have some resources to get you started with promoting the event.
How to Promote Your Participation in the Upcoming End of Year Sale as an Author

Don’t change your price — If you want to add a coupon or make a price change, DON’T. We will be handling your discount at Smashwords on your behalf.

Share the News With Your Newsletter — Newsletters and email mailing lists are a fantastic way to get your most devoted fans invested. Let them know what to expect and how they can take part in the excitement.

Promote on Social Media — If you are on social media, now is the best time to schedule posts to go live during the Summer/Winter Sale. We have included some post templates and graphics below, but some things to keep in mind:
- Before December 15. Share on Social Media that you have an upcoming promotion to build anticipation and interest.
- During the Sale, make posts that include a link to a sales page. Social media posts only do so much if you aren’t directing your readers to your books!
- Use appropriate hashtags and tags. For this event, we recommend using the hashtags #SmashwordsEoYSale and #Smashwords. You can also tag us in your social posts!

Update your Bios and Webpages — When people visit your profile or website, you want them to know your books are currently involved in an exciting promotion. Make sure the details are prominently featured to encourage readers to check it out.
